What is it?

AquaSmarter consists of a complex mix of water purification minerals coiled and encased in an injection molded, ventilated, plastic housing. This process optimises the ionization process and provides essential water flow to the coil.

When the water purification capsule is immersed in water it slowly begins to release minute quantities of invisible, negatively charged particles into the water.

Once released into water, these ions, with their active surfaces, act as powerful and natural disinfecting agents.

After a period of approximately 1 to 2 weeks the negatively charged ions completely infuse into the pool water and reduce the need for chlorine and other chemicals.

The AquaSmarter capsule measures just 9cm and has been specifically designed to fit into any pool skimmer basket or leaf trap baskets located around the pool or Jacuzzi.

How does it work?

The AquaSmarter water purification system uses small quantities of interactive ion-producing elements in a carefully balanced blend that work in water to create an electromagnetic process called galvanic action.

This ionization process creates negatively charged particles, which magnetically attract the pollutants continually entering the pool water. The ionized particles in the pool keep the water clean and clear 24 hours a day, all year long.

The scientific explanation…
Invented by Dr. Stephen Verdon, the AquaSmarter Submersible Ionization Technology’ is based on the use of 5-Essential Minerals: Silver, Copper, Palladium, Zinc and Carbon.

The AquaSmarter Ionizing Capsule lasts for 12 full months and does not require electricity, constant maintenance or special plumbing. The AquaSmarter ionizing capsule is simply placed into the skimmer basket so that water passes through the specially designed (patented) ionizing capsule. The capsule automatically regulates the copper (Cu++) and silver ions (Ag+) produced from the when submerged. This process is also known as electro galvanic action.

Several studies conducted at NASA and several major US Universities have proved the high effectiveness of copper and silver ions in the purification of water. Once released into water, these ions, with their active surfaces, act as powerful and natural disinfecting agents.

Within just fractions of a second, the positively charged copper and silver ions form electrostatic bonds with the negatively charged areas of the micro-organisms’ cell membranes. This process alters the permeability of their cell walls so that the nutrient intake (photosynthesis) of the micro-organism is impaired. Once copper and silver penetrate a cell, they attack the sulphur based amino acids in the cell proteins which are required by the cell for photosynthesis. As a result, photosynthesis becomes impossible and the cell becomes inactive.

Silver… It has been known for centuries that silver destroys bacteria and viruses, even those resistant to chlorine. Silver sulphate is frequently used in the antibacterial treatment of burns and open wounds and is even used to protect newborns.

Copper… As a trace element, copper plays a vital role in human metabolism. Copper is essential to the activity of many proteins and enzymes. It promotes the formation of skin pigments and has important functions in bone metabolism and the central nervous system. The maximum permissible value of copper specified by the German drinking water regulations is 2 mg/l. Thanks to the AquaSmarter technology, we provide perfect water with copper levels of 0,2 mg/l. Most of the classical electrode based ionization equipment needs copper levels of 0,5 - 0,7 mg/l to achieve acceptable results. The electrodes of type of systems are not precise, very sensitive to calcium deposits and require a lot of maintenance. AquaSmarter avoids all of these issues.

The most important advantage of copper and silver ions is that they achieve a sustained protection by disinfecting water without the use of any toxins. A large portion of the ions produced by the AquaSmarter also saturate the sand contained in the filter and prevents formation of bacterial colonies. Even after the filter system has been switched off, this effect lasts for more than 2 weeks.

The AquaSmarter technology is straightforward to operate and requires no maintenance. It has been demonstrated that copper and silver ions eliminate cryptosporidium, ecoli, coliforms, pseudomonas and legionella as well as many other species of bacteria and germs, including those chlorine-resistant varieties. How do I use it?

The AquaSmarter system is placed into the filtration system of your pool. Within 24 hours, these metals begin to dissolve and produce negatively charged ions. This ionization process reduces the need for chlorine and other chemicals. These negative ions also attract dust and dirt particles (like a magnet) and drop them to the bottom of your pool.

Each capsule is guaranteed to last for twelve full months. Replace your capsules every 12 months (assuming your pool is in use for a full 12 month period. For example, if your pool is only in use for 6 months then simply remove the capsules from the water when the pool is not in use and they will last for 2 years). When removed from water, the capsules become inactive.
You pool is just filtered and brushed down in the normal way, without the need for adding any further chemical treatment.
The system leaves your pool or tank virtually chemical free and virtually eliminates the need for chlorine and other chemicals.

Swimming pool instructions - AquaSmarter with chlorine:

Place AquaSmarter in the skimmer or pre-filter

Dosage is 1 AquaSmarter M150 capsule per 20m³ of water

• For the first 2 weeks treat the pool with normal quantities of chlorine
• In week 3, reduce the chlorine dosage by 50%
• In week 4, reduce the chlorine dosage of week 3 by 50%
• In week 5, reduce the chlorine dosage of week 4 by 50%

The dosage is week 5 in the dosage to be used with the AquaSmarter system. This results in an 87.5% reduction in chlorine usage!

It is important to maintain the pH level of the pool at between 7,0 and 7,6 - pool filters should be kept clean in the usual way and the pool filtered as normal. A higher than recommended pH will inhibit the ionization process.

Swimming pool instructions - AquaSmarter without chlorine:

It is possible to use the AquaSmarter technology without any chlorine in the pool, the number of capsules used is increased. The followin table provides quatities based on pool volume.

It is important that for the first 2 weeks the chlorine is applied as normal, after this initial 2 week period, chlorine dosage can be discontinued. pH levels must be kept between 7 and 7,6

Health issues associated with chlorinated water... New research [1] carried out in Spain has shown for the first time a link between exposure to chlorination by-products through inhalation and absorption through the skin, and increased risk of bladder cancer.

Drinking chlorinated water gave a 35% greater risk of bladder cancer, while use of swimming pools boosted bladder cancer risk by 57%. Those who took longer showers or baths and lived in municipalities with higher THM levels also had an increased cancer risk.
Absorption of THM through the skin or lungs was thought to have a more powerful carcinogenic effect because it did not undergo detoxification via the liver.
