Photovoltaics are better supported in Portugal than most other European countries. A recent microgeneration scheme was launched in the first half of 2008. The microgenerator, can choose between one of two purchase rates (bonificada - subsidised ou geral / general). The general rate will means that it will take 30 years to payback your investment (these figures come from market studies carried out in Portugal by a governmental department). Therefore the subsidised rate makes most sense, although as you would expect there is some smallprint!
The idea is that after filling the on-line application the producer will have a six month period to conclude the installation, this will be inspected to ensure that you have not exceeded the limits of your microgenerator contract - random inspections are also likely. The registration procedure to be considered a producer is online, Sistema de Registo de Microprodução (Microgeneration Registration System). Both equipment suppliers and installers are registered on the website, which allows for transparency. Installers will have to be certified by INCI (www.inci.pt). The registration procedure is outsourced to CERTIEL. We would be pleased to help guide you through this process and in the appropriate specification of a photovoltaic system suitable to your needs and budget. |
